I started getting interested in my own family history when I had children of my own. It’s pretty amazing to take my place in a long line of mothers who had gone through this before me. All sharing the same hopes and fears and insecurities about the process of motherhood and indescribable love for their children. Then I realized how quickly the awareness of being part of this long line of women goes away. Many of us get so mired in our own experience forgetting that so many came before us and made it! I feel that by displaying this connection is a great reminder that we are not in this alone and have the wisdom of generations to draw on deep within us all.

Then I realized that this is really applicable at any phase of life. At the end of our time, we just become a name on a family tree and live on through the memories of others lives we touch. How do you want to be remembered?
